Ronald C. Witt, Sr., as President and part-owner, established Sweetwater Construction Corp. in 1988 when the company was producing $500,000 per year in revenues. Over the past 29 years under his leadership, Sweetwater has completed in excess of $1 Billion in construction projects. Ron led Sweetwater into larger and more sophisticated new construction, technical, and renovation projects by providing our clients with the same high level of professional management and project delivery services as the larger, more established general contractors and construction managers. Ron developed a team-oriented, partnering approach in working with our clients which filtered down, and was instilled, in all Sweetwater employees. This approach yielded a business which generates $80 Million per year in revenue and excels in providing construction management and general contracting services on a wide variety of projects.
His professional career overlapped a successful military career in the US Navy. Ron graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1966 and then went to flight school. He completed flight school and began his aviator career where he piloted S-2’s while stationed on the USS Intrepid. He transitioned from active duty to the naval reserve in 1971. While in the naval reserve, he attained the rank of captain and was the commanding officer at Willow Grove Naval Air Station.
Ron was an engineer, avid bicyclist and golfer, adventurer, dog-lover, Cubs fan, Corvette enthusiast. Most of all, he was a family man. He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Ron, daughter Lisbeth, three grandchildren, as well as a larger extended family. He also considered Sweetwater employees as family and each employee felt a connection to him in return. “My father taught us well, and his fundamentals of honesty, integrity, and fairness, cultivated in the Navy, will be carried forward.” said Ron Jr., President and CEO. “Clients, subcontractors and employees can be confident that their construction needs and livelihoods are in good hands.”
